The use of purple paint as a Private Property/no trespassing indicator here in Tx has been around as long as I've been alive. It was only in recent decades it was 'officially' adopted by the state. We used it on this place in the mid 60s when we first fenced the perimeter. Trees along the National Forest boundary were already painted with purple markings when we got the place and the big timber companies were using it way back in the early 1900s when they owned most of East Texas and Western La.
You can't keep 'no trespassing' signs up...people either shoot them to pieces or steal them, usually poachers. Thos kinds of people don't pay any attention to paint or signs.
