Declssified docs show him having a store about our destroyer being fired apone among other things to get us into a war. you might want to get your head out of the sand/bong and do some research. it is all spelled out in federal declassified doc's.
Are you referring to Johnson and the Gulf of Tonkin incident? If not then what exactly?

I'm so impressed with Mr. Moore, I'm thinking President Trump should ask Mr. Moore to be his personal envoy in Iran.

Isn't it strange that after a bombing, everyone blames the bomber, his upbringing, his environment, his culture, his mental state but … after a shooting, the problem is the gun.... Open your frigg'n minds, think about all the other tools that can be made into WMDs.
My wife told me to grow up. I told her to get out of my fort!

E.Furgal be referrin' to exactly that. LBJ and the Gulf of Tonkin. I was going to reference the "Pentagon Papers." The classified documents that were leaked to the New York Times by Daniel Ellsberg.
But as I was considering what I might say, I stumbled upon what looks like a very comprehensive review from the U.S. Naval Institute, which bills itself thusly:
quote
Founded in 1873, the U.S. Naval Institute is the independent forum for those who dare to read, think, speak, and write in order to advance the professional, literary, and scientific understanding of sea power and other issues critical to global security. . . . The U.S. Naval Institute is a non-profit membership association serving a community of individuals who participate in an open forum to debate key issues in the Sea Services.
"The Truth About Tonkin"
quote
Questions about the Gulf of Tonkin incidents have persisted for more than 40 years. But once-classified documents and tapes released in the past several years, combined with previously uncovered facts, make clear that high government officials distorted facts and deceived the American public about events that led to full U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War.
While you may think your sports analogies are cute or possibly even witty, perhaps you should consider that global politics and war are not spectator events meant for entertainment.
Serious issues deserve serious consideration and reflection.
The need for those attributes may well leave you on the bench.
Well... singling out LBJ in a derogatory way as a "peach"... not an idiom that would have come to my mind.
I'd say that (1960s) was a very different context (vs today) and there was not nearly as much public knowledge and public appetite for knowledge about the inner workings of the federal government, compared to today.
Maybe if JFK had not been assassinated, he would have steered the nation away from such a long and large-scale military intervention in Vietnam.
If there were a way to erase time (something more practical than the Quantum Eraser that someone could remember me "babbling" about) and create another history, my first idea would be to test Ho Chi Minh to see if he would "bite" on a reunified Vietnam, but with a hybrid economy. Communist-style socialism for the entire country, excepting a carveout around Saigon for a private enterprise and investor-friendly zone. Kind of like what has evolved between mainland China and Singapore. Of course we now see the tensions, but maybe it's tenable, in the long run.
LBJ was thinking in a somewhat similar way, but maybe (apparently) they didn't come up with a "package" that Ho Chi Minh liked. There was an idea about a big, U.S.-financed economic development program for Southeast Asia, in exchange for a cessation of the Communist side's efforts to use bombs and bullets to reunite North and South Vietnam under a Communist regime
LBJ and many other "peaches" in and around the federal government, during that not so recent time.

Co existence is not possible between the two systems.
I just spent 3 1/2 years living that concept on a micro scale.
The won't and dont have hound the wills and earned it until one of 2 things happen.
The workers give up and quit trying just to get some peace.. Go all John galt... Or they say **** the area and go find somewhere else to live leaving the moochers and users with one less to use or mooch off of.
How long before there is nothing left but users because all of the producers are gone elsewhere.
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason
E.Furgal be referrin' to exactly that. LBJ and the Gulf of Tonkin.
Yeah, I always get Nixon and LBJ confused, they were so much alike.
See? Each is holding his glasses in his right hand. I can hardly tell them apart. And, Henry is waving his finger in a similar manner as Dean's cigarette. The resemblance is uncanny.

I remember those 'Catholic' concerns from real time. That Houston speech that JFK gave in font of a group of the SBC was played a lot in my area by all 3 networks and of course covered by the local channels. What it was like: https://www.history.com/new...k-catholic-president

I am curious if Greta has anything to say about the 24 muslims arrested across Australia regarding intentionally starting bush fires in the name of jihad?
There is an initial media black out, but this will make news shortly.
Did that U.S. (or "Trump Air"..?) drone strike near the Baghdad airport that killed the General and his sidekick (the Iraqi Shia militia leader) also kill or mangle some larger number of people? A two-digit number? I have been aware of only those two, but now that I think about it, wasn't there at least one another person that was driving?
Will they have to change those TV commercials that are always on the cable channels that I select?
From Aljazeera's English language website; January 2.
quote
Sources from the PMF earlier told Al Jazeera that the rockets destroyed two vehicles carrying "high-profile guests", who had arrived at the Baghdad airport and were being escorted by militia members. Earlier reports said five other people were killed in the raid.
Five... we have five... do I hear six?
MSNBC has been kind of sketchy about the details.
I felt relieved earlier today when I find out it wasn't an American general.
Just feeling a little "extra" today (I guess), as one of the other members here has been calling it.
The commentators that I've been seeing on MSNBC are more "on edge" about where this could be going, than I feel, myself. Is that just a "normalization bias"..? I think that's the term for it.
I did see the President earlier today, side by side with the Prime Minister or President of Greece. From which I gleaned that a second American has died, having succumbed to injuries sustained in the same rocket attack that killed the American that's been described as a "contractor."
Maybe the power brokers that control the government in Iran want to get through the retaliation part of it (which they consider obligatory) very quickly and move into negotiations on an accelerated schedule?
You can call this an "upbeat" scenario. (Unless you're really "big" on counting up numbers of Iranians and other Muslims as casualties.)
I had just hit Submit on my previous expression here when the latest news started to come in.
