My guess is that this will end where some other government entity/department removed the sotne for whatever reason. I suspect it will be the left hand not knowing what the right hand is donig, all while wasting more government resoruces to figure ourt it was a non event.
If you think about it, what the hell is someone going to do with such a distinctive rock...……… Can't put it in your own front yard, it'll be seen reported and to court you'll go. Break it up into gravel? Much easier ways to get gravel.
I guess you could put it in the neighbors yard, you know, the guy that constantly annoys ya. Just don't get caught doing it. Oh, better use someone else's equipment to accomplish that task. LEOs know how to check out rental places.
Pretty much a silly thing to do but, if stealing rocks gets your rocks off, go for it. Edited: It could be used as a Dock Anchor and you might get away with it till the water level drops.

Unscrupulous landscaping companies (and sometimes home owners) will go out looking for nice large rocks for their yards. Guy I know living out in the desert had several large rocks taken off his land without permission while he wasn't there.
