I admit that I am partly to blame, because of one of my previous remarks here, but it seems that the idea of referring to the late congressman, Elijah Cummings, as a "socialist dictator," went down the "throat" of this forum (in general) much like the swallowing of a pleasant-tasting elixir, with not much resistance (overall), and very unlike the gagging and spitting up that could be the response to something generally regarded as very unpleasant to swallow, like Cod Liver Oil.
Almost in a flash, part of the discussion became an argument about the late congressman's wife and her remarks about wanting to replace him in Congress, and whether that should be accepted as something in the ordinary course of events, or needs to be highlighted, especially, as a hallmark of a "Socialist Dictator."
California Congressional Representative Jackie Speier, who was wounded by gunfire at the "Peoples Temple" massacre in Guyana, often remembered simply as "Jonestown", was an aide to Congressman Leo Ryan, who was killed at Jonestown. She can fairly be regarded as his successor in the U.S. Congress. Of course, if "you" are remembering Elijah Cummings as a "socialist dictator", then I would not be surprised if "you" would likewise consider Jackie Speier to be of that same dubious ilk of socialist dictator-like people that have held office in Congress.
I am wondering if there are any notable examples of Senators, Representatives, or other notable politicians of the kind that "you" Like and Approve Of, that were succeeded in office by their Spouse or Significant Other, or--using a more expansive reading of the now famous List of Two (from forum member "82-T/A")--succeeded in office by a close family relative or descendant, or maybe someone from their immediate entourage, ala the Jackie Speier example that came to my mind--if that also fits with "your" reading (dare I say, "a more liberal reading"..?) of LTF82 or "List of Two from forum member '82'.."
It's imperative that any examples of this kind be brought to the attention of this "committee" (of one,) because such testimony could contradict and greatly nullify the theoretical and operational significance of LTF82.
A thought for the forum in general--whoever might be following this discussion--but not for anyone in particular. For anyone who falls within the "sphere" of Civilized Discourse, as distinct from the (odd) forum member(s) that are as distant from the center of that sphere as the planet Neptune is distant from the Earth and Sun.
