I also stated that "mass shooting" could be defined many ways.

You were kind enough to provide an unnamed source for a definition of "massacre". Which does not agree with mine. Yours listed a noun and a verb. My displeasure is in the way that the word is used as an adjective. An adjective being a word which modifies a particular quality of the word they are modifying, for a political ideology.

I hate to tell you this, but YOUR definition doesn't use it as an adjective either.
But then again, the 'mass' of 'mass shooting' has nothing to do with the word massacre and never did. That's simply something you made up...or got from siri.

Now maybe, out 2.4 parsecs from Earth in the constellation Canis Major, where the star Sirius is located, there may be an inhabited planet named Siri and 'maybe' they firmly belive that mass is short for massacre, but here in our own real world, that word is a shortened/common usage version of the word 'masse' or 'massive' which means 'large' numbers or large quantities, large in scale, or even a large volume of well,..'anything'.
Around the late 1500s most Anglos dropped the 'e' off the end and we here in the real world on Planet earth just say mass when using it as an adjective.
So yes, it is completely accurate when used in front of shooting, stabbing, unemployment, invasion, or anything else.

I am truly sorry Siri let you down in this matter. The dictionary on my desk did not.

You may not have asked for it, but you should have:

Who do you believe he wanted to massacre ?

He got pulled over, on a Labor Day weekend. For not using a turn signal. Let's call it a drunk driving check. I support that. Could it have been a 'red flag' check ?
Where was he going to commit his mass murders had he not been stopped ? Why had he not already started his mass murder at indiscriminate traffic targets ?

Many police agencies have policies for breaking off high speed pursuits when it may cause danger to the innocent public. Then tracking down the one fleeing.

I have not heard that he started to fire before he was stopped. I actually thought the Trooper was on his way back to his cruiser after getting his license, and was shot from behind.
It seems unorthodox to me to be driving forward and shooting a rifle behind you, with one hand. With aim. A pistol seems like a better choice of weapon.

In a statement release by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the organization states that at close to 3:15 p.m., troopers attempted to stop a gold passenger vehicle on I-20 near mile marker 131. Before the vehicle came to a complete stop, the driver pointed a rifle to the rear of the vehicle and began firing, striking one of the two troopers in the patrol unit.

Thank you for telling me. I had a rushed post mind freeze. I had the definition of massacre and of mass both pulled up. I posted the wrong url address in my link. Mass indeed does have an adjective use.

, I never imagined my smart phone had a reach of 2.4 parsecs from Earth. Cute, .

It may be acceptable to use the word mass in this event, especially since bullets were flying from both sides of the law. Again, as I posted ...

Come to think of it, he was put down at a movie theater I think I remember. Was he boxed in at a movie theater ? Looking for human shields ? There are movie theaters in Midland, he did not need to go to Odessa.

Of course we do not know the answers to those questions. I have seen no evidence he was intent on going on a multiple shooting spree nor certainly on a shooting spree of a mass audience intent on massacre.

All these shooters dont do anything that would seem to have much thought. For one thing, few if any have given much thought to any kind of escape plan. They are all insane, whether all the time or for a short period. It however dont give them a free pass insanity plea. I have my own definitions of some things, to me a mass, or massacre shooting would be something like 5 or above. Shooting 3 people, which I think is the 'official' designation, is a multiple shooting to me. 5 or more people make it a mass shooting. Killing everyone you can in a location is a massacre. The Alamo was a massacre.

If burning the flag of the United States of America is free speech, what are mass shootings ?

I know a little bit more than a little about the Alamo. The Alamo was only a massacre after it's defenders could not shoot back.

That is a poorly worded thought by me. A thought that looks like a question. I had expected to be called on it.

They are both actions which the majority find reprehensible. Of course, only one causes physical harm to others.

I should have said I believe the shooters had something to say. Many have manifestos.

From he Trash Can thread :

I think it was 82-TA who mentioned that some people can't come up with other options for solutions.
Is a mass shooting an exclamation point for what they say/think ?

It would seem as if a mental health provision of gun control were enacted, what people have to say would be a big part of it.

The Freeman High shooter, who I will not rename, is finally being tried as an adult. OVER two years ago he shot up his high school, killing one and injuring many more. This turd of a human was in our home two days before his guilt. Something was seriously wrong with that man, his family knew of it, and their continued fight against justice is the coverup that we do not hear of. How many here hear of the Freeman shooting?

My point is this... A child killer is being protected within this community right before your very eyes. Mental health is too heart felt an industry. A wealthy family with connections to both the major college in town and the legal happenings within Spokane.

I live right between the killers family and one of the custodians that helped to stem the blood flow from children that turd shot up.

Look at what the FBI and Congress have done to Donald Trump and his associates, to Brett Kavanaugh and others because of nothing more than their political affiliation.

Do we really want to give the government the power to abridge the rights of a law abiding citizen?

Do we want to make mental illness illegal? Do we trust the decision to the same people who say that Bruce Jenner is a woman?

Not going to blabber on about this, but more than just I here have been the subject of extreme political bias. Bias that reaches beyond the very walls of this forum.

I do not want to give government the power to accuse anyone of mental illness. That should be brought on by the people, for the people. I say again, look around you all. There is often a very real visual cue, a disturbing feeling, or just writings that really should be looked into. (So very often the case AFTER a turd kills.)

I do not have the answers, but we used to be able to lock up the loonies. Whether that be from mental illness or illegal and legal drug abuse. We actually see this happening, yet negatives are thrown to those against its uprising. Fat shaming is nearly a crime now. Drag queen story hour for 8 year old boys is a very real occurrence. Homeless taking over school grounds to live upon is happening in cities very near you and I. Here in Spokane we have a mayoral candidate that wears two foot wide bows in here hair along with frilly childhood skirts. Severe mental retardation is being allowed and even to flourish. The democrats seriously want children to vote for Presidential elections from their school desks.

I am unapologetic.

I know you quoted some one. I hope you encourage thoughts from all sides.

This ambiguous "we" is the government. The "we the people". My wife for 25 years has worked for locked up loonies, and "we the people". Employed by the government of the State of Texas. Judges involved, as well as attorneys on more than two sides.

The same government which wants to define what the US Constitution says is an inalienable right.

"We" ?
"We the people" delegated our Rights in the US Constitution. "We the people" provided a method to repeal Rights ... amendments.
Yet, we the people have accepted abridges to the Second Amendment already.

Would they have the right to remain silent ?

Would the Fifth Amendment protect the Second Amendment, which protects the First Amendment ?

We no longer have government of the people by the people, but rather in spite of the people.
If we can keep Trump in place, we can continue the return to freedom and prosperity. Make America great again.

I can think of very few circumstances (maybe none) where we should lock up or restrict the God given rights of anyone who has not committed a crime. By restricting the rights of an American because someone has decided he is ill, we are effectively doing just that.

300 people are killed by ladders every year in the US.
Between 2000 and 2011, 349 people were killed by furniture.
Over 3,000 people are killed by food each year.

I have no authority to lock anyone up. I am not asking for that authority. Calming down should begin now in 3... 2... 1...

I went to the center of the universe this weekend. Prove me wrong!

One member of the party was Shauna Hillman, the director of the Northern Pacific Depot Railroad Museum, who describes herself as “the official janitor of the Center of the Universe.”

I ask Hillman why Wallace is the Center of the Universe.

“Why not?” she responds. “That’s the answer to why is it the Center of the Universe.” The second answer: “Prove it isn’t.”

Where exactly is the center of the universe ? At a local bar ? Next to a women hole cover ? Decided by a director of the Northern Pacific Depot Railroad Museum, who describes herself as “the official janitor of the Center of the University ?

My fifth question is, can you prove that you did ?

I have to apologize for the smiley face next to the thread topic.

Poor taste. Poor choice.

Pretty much so.

Yes. I have pictures and a receipt from Johnson's Gems where we purchased two rose stones in honor of our anniversary, and three MAGA hats.

I can think of one. Maybe two, possibly three.

Hmm. The first one being committing a crime while using a gun.

Does the felon Martha Stuart not have the right to protect to protect herself ? From whatever, dying on her feet, to living on her knees, to defend against criminal action ? From harm well wishers ?

How 'bout the felon Michael Flynn ? 30+ years of dutiful service to the United States of America.

They are not allowed to own a gun. They did not use a gun in the commission of a crime. They merely lied.

The second one ... being when a person has demonstrated a propensity for violence to solve problems when other methods are possible.

The third includes the second. Domestic violence, though they do have anger management classes for that.

Why does a felon not lose any of his rights except the Second ?

Here we are, acting like the little noisy dogs, perched up on large lady's boobs in Walmart.
Just yappin to feel our buttholes clinch, with no real answer or anything else of substance.

Contact you elected officials, who are making decisions, deciding answers.

I just finished a high end job for a Democrat Representative of Washington State. After talking with them, I believe that they are good God fearing people that want to control every aspect of our lives with an iron fist. My work is beyond top notch, yet my political leanings are a joke to them. I had many interesting conversations, and every one left me with less than I started with.

Democrats take and do not give. Period. Be afraid. Do not for one minute think that our Representatives listen to differing points. Again, be afraid.

I always find it telling that those that cry "We have to do something" usually don't know what that something is or they parrot someone else's "something".

I also find it telling that whatever the "something" turns out to be seems to affect the folks that:

A. Didn't do anything to cause "something" to supposedly need to be done.

and

B. That "something" seems to always take something, (usually rights and freedoms) from the same folks described in A.

Yap for yourself.

I don't know about you, but I most certainly do not fit your description.

Good point that is what we should be doing, in addition to everything else.

That’s because you are singulary unique.
See, you are this amazingly pathetic little dickhead, constantly complaining about how others don’t “measure up” to the magnificence that you delusionally think is you.

But the problem is, you have your head so far up your azz, you actually think you prognostications make you something special.

Which is insane, considering all you have to do is look into your wife’s eyes to figure that fallacy out.
Every mirror you look into served as a constant reminder of that.

A crackhead has more mental relevance.

Get a life, douche bag.
You are no great mind.

You’re not even a very good moron.

In many states, convicted felons cannot vote while serving sentence or on probation.it varies state to state.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...in_the_United_States

Depending on the crime, a convicted felon can lose his 'freedom of movement' that is guaranteed under the Privileges and Immunities clause of the US Constitution.
Many convicted felons lose that right without permission of a probation or parole officer.
there are other rights lost or prohibited as well.

It's a shame that you have no clue what it means, otherwise you might have actually used it in a proper context which you FAILED, to do here, but then you and failure are old and very close friends.

We can just add that to your other examples of a pathetic substandard education and low intellect such as your use of the words COARSE and MUTABLE.

It's SO much fun watching you prove again and again what a sad buffoon you are.

Keep at it Bowling Alley Boy

Whoa there Big Feller! Is this an option?

If so, I'll accept that responsibility and get a few things done. Being Rude is about to become a misdemeanor.
Let's not even go into what a felony is...………..
