President Trump somewhat famously (MSNBC) referred to the "oranges" of the FBI's investigation of the 2016 presidential election, which morphed into the Special Counsel or "Mueller" investigation. These oranges are gambling casino slot machine symbols. The proverbial "one-armed bandit."
It's easy to make the connection, and perfectly understandable that the President preferred to innovate with "oranges" instead of the more conventional "origins" in that context. He was Thinking Outside of the Box. The box of oranges. Because he's been, among other things, a gambling casino magnate. It's also possible that there's a connection with one of the nation's "hush-hush" intel (intelligence) agencies, and a classified briefing that came to his desk in the Oval Office with Top Secret information from Agent Orange.
But that's neither here nor there. What we do know, according to a new report in Politico, is that Christopher Steele was "grilled" to the tune (or temperature?) of 16 hours as part of a DOJ IG-led investigation into the aforementioned "oranges."
| quote | Christopher Steele, the former British spy behind the infamous “dossier” on President Donald Trump’s ties to Russia, was interviewed for 16 hours in June by the Justice Department’s internal watchdog, according to two people familiar with the matter.
The interview is part of an ongoing investigation that the Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, has been conducting for the past year. Specifically, Horowitz has been examining the FBI’s efforts to surveil a one-time Trump campaign adviser based in part on information from Steele, an ex-British MI6 agent who had worked with the bureau as a confidential source since 2010. |
