This Californian train was a fraud from day one. That is one reason it is now changed again. It NEVER had a plan to take property from owners in the Bay area or the LA area. That land is SOOOOO EXPENSIVE that they never even tried to steel it through eminent domain like they did to the VASTLY outnumbered Central Californians. Steeling the land out from under them was easy. The Major Cities Lawyered up and prevented the train from even driving a single stake in the ground.
AND the CHEAPEST leg of the route was many times over budget.
Another reason it stopped at Bakersfield is because they never had a plan to cross over the mountain range just South of Bakersfield. This mountain range separates LA from the rest of California. They were going to get off the train at the bottom of the mountain range and board a bus that was going to drive them over the hill. UNBELIEVABLE but true.
SCAM, and they still have no idea how to pay for the largely incomplete section. It is less than 10% complete and never even had a plan to buy the trains to set on the track. Yep, that's right, they only had plans to build tracks, NO TRAIN. That was supposed to come later.
The ticket price is currently expected to top $150 per person. AND the train is currently climbing deeper in the red, causing the estimate to climb higher.
