You can read the article here: http://www.fox13news.com/ne...-abolish-common-core

I'm really starting to like our new governor. It's less then a month into his term, and he's already sacked a scumbag sheriff (Scott Israel), and scrapped Common Core. All I have to say is YEE-FREAKIN-HAH!!!

The people in Washington DC should be taking notes.

So, I didn't read the article but I have questions. Is this a stopping all teaching of it on such and such a date or a phasing it out thing? Because if you throw kids who have had this common core crap shoved down their throats abruptly in to classes teaching the traditional way, they are going to be lost, beyond lost. Either way, the damage is done. We've pushed students through schools teaching them this common core way and they have been pushed out into the workforce. I imagine employer's aren't looking for employee's who have to draw a picture to solve a basic math problem. All those students who have been taught the common core way have been handicapped by the school system. Another batch of educationally challenged people who will want to vote democrat because they will blame republicans for stopping common core teaching and causing all those students woe's.

You should have read it. Your questions would have been answered.

"Florida education standards will not change this year. Gov. DeSantis said he and Commissioner Corcoran will seek input from teachers and parents, then present a reform plan to the legislature, to enact in 2020"

Our new Governor has also initiated a reinstatement of teaching American Civics in Florida schools AND is working on expansion and increased funding for vocational trade / industrial schools to prepare people for good paying jobs.

Considering how close we came to having a self avowed Marxist / socialist and criminal as our Governor, we have been truly blessed here in Florida.

I will tomorrow when I get home from work. Had a physical therapy session today so that left me in a time crunch earlier. I didn't think to check back until now and I need to head to bed. Thanks for that bit of info though Randye, I appreciate it. Unfortunately here we had a choice between a twit and Romney for senator. Romney sucks but the twit would have been worse. We have Gary Herbert (R) for governor and while better than the offered option, he capitulates to the wants and pressures of the LDS church to much. But then so does a large portion of Utah's government.

In my "corporate days" I spent a good deal of time in Utah, (SLC, Ogden, etc.) .

I really like Utah and it's people a lot, but it was hard not to note that the LDS church has a lot of political power there.

Perhaps that's natural considering how the state was settled.

I also recall being asked by almost every restaurant server if I want lemonade or water with my meal which seems to be a LDS "thing" as well.

Those folks sure have some strong opinions on caffeine as well as alcohol.
