Any objections from the left? Let's hear them.

Any objections from anyone else? Right, center, on the fence or crawling under it, speak up.

We here, in the Kania household, back our President.

Edit: Yes, we sat and watched it. An opinion was formed. Get the **** over it. (If this message offends you, then so be it.)

I'm sure some people would rather watch him die.

(I'm not one of those people)

I was distracted at work, so I'm listening to it now on delay. Don't tell me how it ends!

Here's what I got from it.

Now it's the Democrat's shutdown.

Beat me to it. Congress writes the checks. The president cannot open the government; he cannot write checks. That is all Congress. Congress is over-run with obstructionists. We have elected officials who are still trying to over-ride the people.

Chuck and Nasty have already refused to accept the offer. They say it is not enough. To me, it is much more than they need. As stated above, it is now firmly in their lap. It will be interesting to see how the purveyors of propaganda spin this.

Not to be overly pedantic about it, but it is an important part of understanding "American Civics 101".

The Congress approves budgets, but the United States Treasury "writes the checks".

The Secretary of the Treasury is a Presidential Cabinet level position, and accordingly part of the Executive Branch of the gooberment as is the entire Department of the Treasury.

Thanks for the correction.

If Trump could merely write the checks, he would--including a check for the wall.

They don't teach Civics anymore its now called Government studies.
While its thought to be the same I don't believe it is. There is the explanation of what each branch is and does then there was the explanation as to why the continue to **** it up.
They don't teach why they ****ed it up as they don't include history in Government studies its just the facts of the job.

The ones that failed civics 101 were the leftist clowns that thought they could order up the United States Air Force like an Uber and a private air charter service to fly them off on a Congressional overseas PR junket in the middle of a government shutdown and didn't know that the President is also the Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces and has the absolute power to stop that crap......and DID.

This is your post is it not.
by your post and only your post and text in it. you claim , and it is.
The Secretary of the Treasury is a Presidential Cabinet level position, and accordingly part of the Executive Branch
but you leave it as if they can just spend on whatever without congress.
sorry that isn't how it works.
if it did Trumps wall would've been finished , and tunnel tracking equipment would be running along it weekly if not daily.

Balance of power. civic 101

I agree, as does almost everyone else with even a small bit of common sense. But President Trump took away some of their ability to blame it on him. I'd say most of their ability, but they always seem to find a way to be snakes.

I really do hope that Democrats are willing to compromise at the Senate level... I'd love to see something like this passed.

We all really know what this is about... Democrats see open borders as an opportunity for new votes. Establishment Republicans have historically seen open borders as cheap labor.

Both sides passed legislation banning the cheap labor aspect of it as a result of lobbying and pressure from the Unions. At this point, the only interest in keeping it open is from Democrats who want the influx of victims to exploit for personal gain and power. Republicans actually have the moral high ground here.

By not having a wall, you continue the process of migration camps which lead to exploitation of minors and women in human trafficking, plus the ability for illegals to come back and forth that have committed crimes.

It doesn't really matter if they do or not.......and they won't.

With an expanded Republican majority in the Senate from the 2018 midterms, the Dems aren't relevant for most matters.

That includes any House passed budgets that don't include funding for the wall.

So far the Senate is holding firm which makes this decidedly NOT "Trump's shutdown" since there has been no budget passed by Congress for him to refuse to sign.
