I am used to using ProgeCad, but the free version wont run on W10. (My nice sparkley new 17" laptop)

Anybody know of a decent replacement that does handle W10 ? (not SketchUp. I hate that thing with a passion).

Gotta be free, though. I dont do enough (and nothing commercially) with CAD to justify buying software. I can put up with ads or whatever.

(BTW, 90%+ of my stuff is mechanical. I typically use it to "do the math for me" for geometry and angles/distances ect)

Full version of ProgeCAD is only $719, that's not bad for a good CAD package? Beats $1600 a year for AutoCAD, or $36,000 for CATIA

Tip for any current students: You can download and use most Autodesk products for FREE! Directly from them if you're a current full-time student with a valid .edu email address

I built a computer specifically to run CAD back in college for this, it's still my main rig 10 years later. The school CAD computers were garbage, and this is still faster than my 'CAD Desktop' at the office.

Ummm.....Yeh. 700+ bucks (as good a deal as it is) just is NOT gonna happen for a 3-4-5 times a month save-the-brainwork session.

I'd be cheaper to go buy another W7 computer !!

Yeh, its put out by Dassault and they just havent gotten around (I guess) to updating the "free" version.

What I like about it, is I can knock out a simple line-drawing in 10 minutes and save a thinking-induced headache. I havent done manual trigonometry since ground school in 1991 Looked into those 2 Willie posted and they are both WAYYYY above what I need.

I just installed LibreCad since it LOOKS like the closes to what I had that will handle W10. I'll try it and see what happens.
