I put this under the Fun Stuff category because I didn't think it should go under Hobbies. 😜

Anyway, this is what happens. Who knew? Glad I wasn't working in a tight space when I discovered this. : )

That happens because when you flip it upside down, the liquid propane comes out. I will make you go through the bottle faster. I would guess it is less efficient than burning the propane normally.

Yup.
Torches and most other things use Vapor not Liquid to operate.
Flipping most torches try to push liquid thru orifice design to control vapor.
Torch then runs very rich and even then can burn all the fuel properly.

Is why many plumber etc uses torches w/ hoses so tank sits right way up. Plus less strain to use them. More so when using Acetylene Air type because tank is very heavy even empty.
examples for Propane (Maybe MAPP too)

Liquid propane burners are hot air balloon burners w/ coils to heat the fuel.
