I can believe it. I'm on about day 6, and while physically its not that bad, some of this crap I am hawking up and blowing out is more like 3/4-set rubber glue than mucas. Its pretty easy to see how the old or young simply couldnt blow or cough hard enough to clear the airways.

The worst was the school bus. I'm STILL trying to figure out when I inhaled one of those.

We're watching this carefully. My grand daughter has asthma. Last week she was having a tough time breathing and my daughter got her to the doc's pretty quick. Turned out not to be the flu but the doc commended her for not waiting since this is shaping up to be a bad one.

BTW, we won't be visiting them until freakin' April because we sure as hell don't want it.

Every year they say we're all going to die. Every year we all don't die.

Every year the flu is the worst ever. Every year it turns out to have about the same mortality rate.

And still the media wonder why people don't trust them.

Which is why I said not always. Your link is for last flu season (winter of 2016-2017), my links were for the previous one, (2015-2016).

I see more push from insurance companies and pharmacies to get the flu shot than from doctors.

I see it as the media proclaiming doom and gloom so you click on their website. I'm just too pessimistic I guess.
