I was thinking, I know, I know, but anyway nearly all of us criticize whoever is president. and I think I would be generous in saying 99.999% of us wouldn't be even slightly qualified. So who are we to criticize? Anyway I wish there was a better way of selecting who we get to choose from. We have 300 million? people here. I am absolutely convinced that there are people out there who would be three or four times as good as we've had lately and that would include our favorites.

Compared to only 50 years ago, our candidate selection process is much more open and influenced by the voters......the process has been largely removed from the "smoke-filled rooms" of the past.

In order to qualify, any candidate should own a Fiero, play guitar, ride an old Shovelhead and live in Arizona.

I think the problem is that the people who are best qualified for the job don't want to go anywhere near it. Being President is sort of like sitting in a dunk tank, with half the country lining up to grab a ball.

Ok, here's my opinion. I got EXACTLY who I wanted. I could not possibly have been more pleased. I'm dead serious. Short of bringing Ronald Reagan back from the dead, this was my ONLY option. I would have been less happy with anyone else. I don't even know if I can properly convey exactly how thrilled I am that Trump is our president.

It's like if you had your choice between a leftover hot dog at the end of the night from a 7-11 in crack town, and then you compare that as a dinner to a 7-course meal at the nicest fancy restaurant you can imagine, where the place setting has everything you need, a matching napkin for your outfit, the waiters have white gloves, and the little scraper pieces to clean the table after you gorge yourself on Australian beef. Donald Trump in my mind is the fancy dinner, and the left over hot dog is anyone else.

He exemplifies exactly what I want as a president. Someone who is brash, is less concerned with being politically correct, and more interested in getting things done. Has a short temperament in dealing with liberal nonsense and the bureaucratic red tape of Federal government, as well as his willingness to speak out against the lobbied Republican political establishment. He is basically me, except with much more money. I've wanted the guy since he first stated he was going to run in 2012 (but then dropped out). When I heard he was going to run in 2015... I knew... absolutely, unequivocally, that this was the man I wanted for presidency. The fact that he won despite all the negative press, and the extreme liberal bias and push to get Hillary to become the next president for no other reason than because "she deserved it"... just made it that much better for me. I've watched and re-watched the tears from the various people at the Hillary campaign, and the melt-down from the media repeatedly... over and over. Any time I'm feeling down, I do a search for liberal tears. Not because I hate the other side of the country... I don't. I truly believe they are unaware of the fact that they are basically pawns of globalism. They have Stockholm syndrome if you will, from their party. They've been so molded that many of them actually now want a global government and believe the US Constitution should be re-written. They are unable to realize that we are the most powerful country in the world BECAUSE of our constitution.

Anyway, to answer your question, here are the qualifications:

- At least 35 years old
- A natural born citizen
- A permanent resident for at least 14 years

... that's it. All of us here who are American citizens (Sorry MEM), are qualified to be president of the United States.

Well then apparently I'm out of touch with most people here. I was glad to see him defeat Clinton but not by much. That's one of the reasons I consider my self a centrist. I was disappointed by both of them.

It's good to see someone who doesn't "toe the party line", regardless of which party it is.

I know how you feel. I'm not a big fan of Donald Trump. But I absolutely did NOT want Hitlery to be President. The GOP could have propped up a scarecrow, and I would have voted for that, just to keep the Evil Witch out of the White House. I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed, and hope that President Trump does a good job. And maybe next time around, there will be a candidate who I really like.

Dratts... I'm being totally serious when I say this.

Donald Trump *IS* the centrist.

He is the most liberal president that has *EVER* been elected as a Republican in the history of the Republican party.

Part of the reason why people like Bill Kristol, Ramesh Ponnaru, Katherine Timpf, and many other conservatives despise Trump so much is because they think he's a RINO. (Republican In Name Only). If Trump is a RINO, then so am I.

I was thrilled when he beat Hillary because of Hillary, not because he was Trump.

But as time has gone on I've become a fan.

Mostly because of his ability to explode Liberal heads but also because it is very clear that he saw what was happening to this country and he STOOD UP.

I mean really, the guy is a billionaire for Pete's sake. He doesn't need this s*it.

Yup, It is a shame that others are not following his lead and standing up.. Sorry complaining on the internet isn't standing up.. nor is rioting.. Answer the call, get involved, make a difference.
Many claimed both parties are the same, well here ya go.. yet these same folks are fighting him tooth and nail, over nothing more than his personality, not his goals and what he is working on,for..

If he were to do that, I would have no more use for him than I did Obama.

IHMO, the only Executive Order President Trump needs to sign is one getting rid of all of Obama's EOs.

He's done a good job at that already.

Donald Trump proves politicians don't understand how to deal with a businessman who has no 'career aspirations'.

I'm lovin' it!

Precisely.
A candidate's challenge is to convince enough people that he/she is competent, trust worthy and will _________________ if elected.

I tend to agree with this. President Trump does seem to have his heart in the right place. And he's trying to do a good job. You can tell that he really does want to make a difference, and change things for the better. I respect him for that.

That said, he's pretty terrible at public speaking. His delivery of speeches is cringe-worthy. But I'm willing to overlook that, because of his hard work and dedication.
