Been a couple of days since Don posted, anyone heard from him?

Isn't it strange that after a bombing, everyone blames the bomber, his upbringing, his environment, his culture, his mental state but … after a shooting, the problem is the gun.... Open your frigg'n minds, think about all the other tools that can be made into WMDs.
I sincerely hope that life is never discovered on another planet because, sure as hell Progressives and Socialists will want to send them money.
I was looking for info here too from him. Hoping and praying he and his family are alright. I did look on Google Maps to see where he is located and he looks like he would be taking the brunt of the rainfall from this storm.
I also saw it reported that the storm is headed back out into the Gulf and will most likely return closer to Houston when it comes back in. So that is not good for him or for Houston. I can't even imagine that much water being dropped from the sky in a couple of days.
I'm assuming he's home if all is Ok and may not have power. I know he has a generator but it may not be operational. Also if his home internet is out, he may not be able to respond here.
Here is a listing of rainfall for Harvey. I believe Maryjane's area is Cleveland and officially they have received 29 inches. And obviously they can't spell.
I would guess he is needing the boat he pulled up to the house. That is amazing to see that much water around him. And the hurricane is not done pounding this area with rain. I hope he can make it to high ground and that it doesn't get much worse.
No idea who called to inquire about our condition, but I assume jmbishop since he posted the picture I sent out. Thanks.
Rough night, trying to save cows and calves, watching them drown, hearing them in the distance and knowing what the sudden silence means. Daylight comes, and reveals more water than has ever been seen here in even my father's lifetime. Yes, we departed this morning in my little boat, after I called the Vol Fire Dept for their assistance. He waded chest deep water to get to the house, helped me get the boat ready and our possessions in it, then the 3 of us got in, a paddled our way to the closest high dry ground, which really meant getting to the nearest county road. Then, dragging the boat along the gravel road to the next low place where the river was flowing chest deep, paddling again till we got to his truck. When I left, water was still 2-3 ft below first floor, but it was still rising too, tho I don't know how much it rose. House may have floated off for all I know. I'm at my sister's place now, and no way to return home until water drops and roads re-open.
maryjane, I am sorry to hear that this has affected you and your family so much. Sometimes nature can overwhelm us. You and your family are in my prayers and it is my hope that the water does not rise anymore so you will not lose everything.
Mr. Jane, I am not quite sure what to say, but I am sorry for what you are going through. I hope the best for you and the other good ones affected by this.

Though my attempt falls flat in light of your cattle. I was worried about them.
Don, I am on a tight schedule till the 10th of next month. The next few days likely will be busy, however, if you need anything, call me. Please. I am sure you have plenty of neighbors willing to help but they will also be busy.
When I left early yesterday, the Dart was parked off property on some high/dry ground. I wish I had left my truck at the same location.
It is my understanding from local observations and from USGS automatic gage, that this river crested yesterday at historical levels and is slowly receding.

Tried calling knowing there would be little chance of getting through and if I did, knowing there wasn't much I could do to help but, know that you and your lovely wife are in my thoughts and prayers.
If, there is anything I can help you with, please let me know.

If it crested the day you left maybe it didn't reach your floor. Hope hope.
One good thing is it might help eradicate fire ants... I hope you tied your boat to the porch so if it does come up, it wont float away. Best of luck. My sister in Dallas has barely had any rain, but her ranch is all on high ground. Water would have to be up 20' to have any effect on her, but the intersection of her street and the main road does flood a lot.
Every time it floods, it's interesting to see the ants make a raft out of themselves. If you've ever stepped in fire Ants, you can imagine how miserable it would be to get into a floating ball of them.

I'm sure he's fine, he's probably going to have a massive cleanup to deal with even if his house isn't touched. I'd volunteer a week if he needed it but we just had a little guy that I take care of and school just started for the wife.
Looks like the river in his location crested on 08/28 at Level 27.17 ft
As of 08/31 last reading Level 17.4 ft
Hope you find all is salvageable.
Last he posted was on 8/28, in the afternoon. If that's the case, maybe it didn't get too much higher. (He said it was still 3 feet from the 1st floor.)

Holy **** Don, I had no idea you were in danger of flooding!
Until today, San Antonio largely had been totally unaffected. There is a run on gas right now. I filled up last night... didn't even really think about it, I just needed gas so I filled up, and it turns out most of the gas stations are out of gas now with few shipments coming to fill up.
Geeze Don... let me know if I can help. I don't even know where you are, but I'm in SA.
Dallas is low on gas, I'm just outside dallas so people have been texting today me asking if there's still gas out here, I honestly don't know, my wife might but I drive an electric car.

For some reason this really hit me hard today, and I actually shed a tear after I read this. I guess it may be because my much younger years were spent joyfully growing up on my grandparents dairy farm. No matter how you try to be un-attached to the critters, it is still a heart wrenching day to see the demise of any of them.
Seriously, if there is anything I can do from Wisconsin when you return home, please let me know!
Don, I do not know you, have never met you, but have followed many of your adventures here on PFF over the past few years, and truly have learned a few things about humanity through you. I have laughed, worried, and applauded so many things you have posted here on PFF, and consider you an individual that many of us actually admire and look up to. I am 64 years old, and would be proud to be one of your neighbors.
At work we have upped our production of "milk crates" to aid with the delivery of fresh water to the area that was hit by this storm. I have just spent the last 12 hours working to make this happen. Our machine had been down since June 12th, and so many others today joined the fight to make it run again.
We (production and anyone else that may get called in for support) will be working through labor day to aid in the delivery of the water the local dairies have decided to shift to instead of strictly milk. The storm has certainly been a factor here also, and we are all very proud to be a part of the assistance needed so badly there. Dave
We are back at home, still on generator power. Cell and internet connections are very iffy all thru this region.
Water did not get much higher than what is seen in the last picture that was posted and did not get in the house. Lost some cows, but not as many as I originally thought. They have slowly been finding their way back home. 4 missing as of this afternoon, not necessarily drowned tho. Some may simply be in someone else's pasture (I have 4 here that don't belong to me.)
Going to lose a lot of tools and some equipment in the shop and probably 2 lawn tractors, a 20 yr old 4 wheeler, that 8n Ford tractor out behind the shop and a gasoline powered welding machine. Might salvage some of it if I work quickly tomorrow and the next day especially on the Hobart welder and the pressure washers. The Miller gas powered welder, I don't hold out much hope for.
I left the boat on the county road exactly where we got out of it, moored to a tree. Looks strange to be driving down the road and come up on a boat tied to a tree so far from water, but I can guarantee, that 3/8 mile trip from my front steps was on hairy boat trip. The 2 years experience in West Texas on Devil's River in our canoe paid off.
Could have been a lot worse. One of my good friends 2 miles down the road drowned Monday night trying to help a family member collect his cattle and retrieve some belongings from a flooded area. Swept away and got tangled in a fence that was underwater is what I heard from a family member.
