I get it every so often , and it doesn't hurt to stand and walk, but to get out of a chair or sit up straight, is.. bending over sometimes I'll get pain other times nothing.. typing this on the chair reclined no pain.. I get it maybe 2 times a year. guessing muscle strain, as I was pulling weeds yesterday, and didn't want to knell on the 3/4 stone and did it bent over.. hour of doing it, back started..
Suffered with it for years- a few early bouts,I was in bed for a day or so. Horrible 10/10 electric shocks, worse than a broken leg.
First thing , identify if it's root is skeletial, muscle, or nerve. Or a combo of them. Then look for treatment options. And also ways to prevent it from happening again.
Good luck
PS- for me, a wooden "back roller" helped a lot. Heating pads and such provided relief, and pain meds. But it was identifying which two muscles were the root cause, and learning the two stretches I needed to do in order for the pain to go away was the most helpful thing.
I can understand why some folks look to end their life due to their suffering. If my "bad days" were EVERY day...ugh.
Im the master of back pain unfortunately. I have morning stretching/strengthening excercises I do every morning. I got one of those inversion tables too, it def helps. Also pick up an TENS style stimpack from walgreens or cvs, those things are a blessing. I have 3 slipped discs and sitting down hurts pretty good. I need to stay flat or keep moving. keeping your abs tight while working helps a lot. Look up lower back excercises and do them religiously. Ibuprofen works the best to keep swelling down. In construction u either lift w your knees or your back. Once you burn out one, u start using the other.

What you need to do is find out WHY you're getting back pain. If you have chronic back pain, (IE: NOT pain that lasts 2-3 days after a big workout or outdoor activity) then you need to go to the doctor to have an x-ray done.
More than likely, you may have a slipped or herniated disc, which could be causing your pain... such as, the disc interfering with your spinal cord.
There are lots of outpatient surgeries (you get a Bandaide and can still drive yourself home) that will heal this within an hour or two.
Just don't break your back. Trust me on this one, it doesn't help. Heating pad, stretching, and the apartment complex hot tub help a little. Now that we have insurance again, I'm going to find an orthopedist to see what I can do. I'm with you on the pain thing. It sucks, but it does get better.
after breaking my back in 2012, i got some nerve damage. So i do yoga, and have a series of exercises and stretches i do every morning. I try to avoid taking pills if i can, otherwise id be taking a bunch everyday. I work 12hr shifts everyday at work, and it does help, but half way through the day im usually hurting pretty bad. When i get home i ice down for an hour or so, then lay on my heating pad to relax the muscles.
