Ive got a Sanyo tv, run on a set of rabbit ears.

Picked up a 10dB signal amplifier today, and tried to run a channel scan to see if it gives me a few extra.

The tv gets about 20% done the scan, then cancells itself. Dont matter if I set it to analog, digital or all signals it does the same thing.

The 2 it finds before cancelling are now amazingly clear, but I would like to finish to get the rest of them.

Any ideas on what I can try, besides hitting it with a hammer?

On most TV's after you scan you can also go and manually add or delete channels. So you might try that.

Maybe you need a 10 dB pad on your amp output.

Just for giggles, try reorienting the antenna and scanning again. Only times ive seen them stop adding channels automatically is because it didnt find them. Or like said, just enter them manually. Ive got several tvs set to get over the air thru antennas. Some just dont get some channels others do either because of different antennas or subpar tuners.

Im off tomorrow so will have time to play around with it.

LOL, the antenna is a home built job made from this type of lamp.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/halogen-desk-lamp

NO idea on on any of the specs as an antenna. Transformer blew so I gutted it and wired a coax cable to the steel arms, then put a couple 2"x2" L-brackets on top where the lamp housing was.
