Wow! This is really interesting! I also admire the creator of this site Mytoptools. He created it to share his personal woodworking experience for those who are just starting out or need a little guidance. My husband is engaged in woodworking, so this is very relevant information for us.

No idea who you are or where you're from but, welcome to this forum! Post #1.
My gun days are just about over. My hearing takes a loss every time I fire a pistol or rifle despite very good hearing protection. I took a class learning how to build or make an English Longbow. My tutor supplied the wood and know how and when finished, the bow turned out to be potentially lethal with a 65lb draw.
My back fusion surgery made it next to impossible to draw the bow but about six months after the surgery, I took it up again and at least could hit a target from about 60 feet. At that time I lived on a five acre plot of land so I took bow, arrow and my stupidity and aimed the arrow at a 45 degree angle and let the arrow fly. It took a couple days of searching for the arrow and discovered it had flown about 500 feet. It hurt my back (I was still dealing with the surgical pain) but at least I could shoot an arrow a considerable distance. I still have the bow--I made it from yew--and intend to use it in lieu of a firearm. It isn't an original creation but I surely was proud to see that arrow fly into a target.
