I noticed a motorcycle ad here a few times and I clicked on it. It is the one with the white background and about 5 bikes across it. It is for Scooterdepot. They have nice looking bikes for crazy low prices. I did a quickie search on Google about them. They don't seem to have a happy, loyal following. Anybody here had any experience with them?

I do not, but I would imagine, and I may not be to far off:

Crazy low prices = unsatisfied consumers in the long run, as "you get what you pay for."

If they are Chinese bikes, the quality may not be up to the levels we usually get from more "upstream" marques like Kawasaki, Honda or Yamaha.

From the research I did, they are chinese bikes, they all need their bolts tightened, and they all red line at about 60. More or less, glorified scooters, probably alright for around town.

They are scooters. They use small scooter engines and gearboxes. I.E. "automatic" or CV type. So they won't be good for much more than off-highway commuting. They would be great for a fun and economical mode of transportation if you don't need highway speeds.

The Chinese part worries me, though. SOME Chinese products are actually very good, but their scooters aren't generally considered to be among them. The already mentioned issues like bolts coming loose and what-not, but also less obvious failures, such as brake master cylinders being faulty. For example, if they leave burrs on the main cylinder body or on the piston, and they tear the o-rings or allow a sudden failure when you suddenly clamp down to perform an emergency stop at 45 miles per hour... you'll be hurting. Things like that.

The other issue is parts availability. I've heard of some that were such close vespa knockoffs that you could use Vespa parts, but these aren't in that category. You'll have to hope the factory in China keeps a stock of parts when they move on to the next design.

I see some of these actually do have 5 speed/proper gearboxes. Nice.

There are probably more scooters being used in Asia than all the rest of the world combined. The streets have always been jam packed with them.
