Guy implants magnets in his arm to hold his phone, lol. He did make a mistake though, he was supposed to implant them in his palm....

Gay. I saw a guy who had installed an RFID ignition switch on his motorcycle, with the RFID chip implanted into his wrist. That way, when he got on his bike it came alive, but when he walked away it shut down and no one else could start it. I would consider that route..

Used to have a thingie in my pocket that would log me into my computer as I came up to my desk, and lock it as I left.
It was 'cute'.

This has been done before (magnet implants) - a girl at work used to do them - mostly in people's fingertips...

I don't see what the problem with it is. It is certainly not for me, but no more ridiculous than getting a tattoo. I mean until recently, those could never be removed. Even now the removal is painful and expensive. The RFID in the skin, isn't far off in my opinion, from being mainstream. I think just the RFID won't be what catches though, people will eventually be getting cellulars implanted. I mean, you can already pay for things with them. When you have it implanted you will just walk up to a terminal screen and sync up to see all your data. It will also keep your emergency information and medical records. We already have our pets tagged.

I've been saying for years the cellphone is "the mark of the beast". The bible says you will except it willingly.

This is interresting. I think it falls into the body modification category. There will be a lot more in the future with much more radical body redesigns.

Personally, I would never want to use RFID as a security key to activate or deactivate anything. I found in a programming class how easy it is to read the RFID. I can buy all of the parts to build a USB RFID reader for about $50. Once the RFID is read it can easily be burned into a new chip. I still have no idea why certain credit card companies thought it was a good idea to embed such an insecure method of card reading into their cards

There may be another problem depending on the strength of the magnets. Electronic data storage devices sometimes do not do well wrt memory retention when around magnets.

I wonder what he'll use the magnets for in 3,5,10 years when the iPod or cellphones are no longer relevant.

Freaking sweet! I'd love to be able to do something like that. Strapless watch on the top of your wrist and a key holder on the bottom. I just wish I'd have thought of it first... :/

What?

A traveling salesman walks into a bar wearing a very expensive suit. He askes the bartender for a beer. When the bartender returns with his beer, he finds the man with his hand held up to the side of his head and talking to it. The bartender asks what he's doing? The man tells the bartender that he had a phone implanted into his hand cause he travels all over the country and loses his phone often. The bartender does'nt believe him so the man holds his hand to the bartenders ear so he can listen. The bartender is amazed! After a second beer, the man asks the bartender where the mens room is. The bartender points but tells the man to be careful cause the bar is not in a very good area of town and the crime rate is high. The man walks off to the bathroom and thanks the bartender for the heads up. About 20 min's goes by and the man has not returned. The bartender goes to the mens room to check on the man. When he enters he finds the man with his pants around his ankles, hands against the wall and a roll of toilet paper shoved up his ass. The bartender was like... OMG are you OK? The mans says... I'm fine! Just waiting on a fax.

No worse than the guy that implanted a usb flash in his arm. Or the one that attached directly to his nerves so he could control a robotic hand.

After doing a bit of research, microdermal implants typically only last about a year before the body rejects them and they come out. Depending on where the implant is and how much movement the implant itself is subjected to, it may only last a few months before it works it's way out and needs to be replaced.

Sounds a lot like some ( all? ) piercings. Tho i hear if they work their way "out" before they are removed, it leaves some nasty scars/deformities ( depending on what the piercing was in )

I actually spent a bit of time researching it today as I'm really interested in getting a microdermal implant, and most new implants are taken out by lightly moving the implant in a manner that speeds up the rejection process. There are some implants that have larger bases with holes in them specifically to encourage flesh growth through the implant and hold it in place longer, but watching the video, I appears as though his implants are just subdural studs, though and will probably work their way out fairly quickly.

Newer large base anchors:

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or serious, so I'll answer that one anyway.

Most 'skin stitching' (predominantly seen as corset piercings and such) typically only last about 2-3 weeks before rejection and are typically more painful than anchors.
