I think we live in a highly stressful world. During times when we are working harder than ever for less and less and trying to make ends meet people will naturally look for a bit of an escape. A drink, socializing, and wrapping up the evening with some boot knocking is a way of coping with that stress. Yes, it is sad that it is necessary but I'll admit, I like to relax with a drink or two and some conversation before getting it on.
