I do agree with what you're saying, there's a potential this could turn ugly, but this is PFF, hopefully we can all be PFFs (Pennock's Fiero Friends) and play nicely for this little event/game. And since it is just a for fun game, it doesn't have to be super serious and official.

Yeah. But beyond "proveable numbers" displacement, horsepower (dyno'd), members age, highest mileage etc. the rest all become based on nothing more than opinion and becomes a "popularity contest". Sure it's for fun (but can end up causing arguments and discord), but also seems kinda pointless.
There's already "Best looking Fastback", "Best looking notchback" etc. threads all over PFF.

Perhaps you lads are right. We'll keep this strictly to facts and fun and leave out performance (at least for now) since it cannot be accurately judged via the internets. Hopefully we can keep a couple of things like nicest fastback/notchback around though.

But there are no prizes in those threads! [This message has been edited by Valkyrie (edited 02-09-2010).] IP: Logged |

And not just one that was advertised as rare on E-Bay, or Craigslist.
I would say that the prototype, or perhaps a Mera would count toward this. (and the arguing begins.)
We can set this up with a vote somehow, and get the community involved in the decision.

...that would be me, as my Fiero is the only one with a VIN number that no one else has...

Personally, I think the awards should be lighthearted and fun. The typical awards are kinda blah. And people tend to get too serious about them. Some suggestions:
-- Most Likely to Break a Donut -- Most Imaginative Use of the Fiero Logo -- Most Secure in His/Her Sexuality -- Most "McGuyver-ish" Fiero Repair -- Most Deserving of the Title "The Fiero Whisperer"

Couldn't agree with you more!
Added your suggestions.
Also, I think it'd be neat if we could get Cliff to allow us to create/add a title underneath our avatar. Such as, "The Fiero Whisperer".
It'd also be a good place to let people know what award you've won. Ex. "Nicest Fastback 2010" or "Weirdest Member of 2010".[This message has been edited by Valkyrie (edited 02-09-2010).] IP: Logged |

My joy of the above idea is matched only by my fear of winning one & what that one might be, for the whole world to see.

I was going to suggest "most detachable body parts", but figured it could wander too far into TMI land.IP: Logged |

Lets see member with the most spent on a Fiero. One of our club members would take that one for sure.
At last count 115,000 yes One Hundred and fifteen thousand invested into his Fiero / Ferrari 308 build. 90% of that was drive train related. GM ZZ3 Crate Motor, Archie's 6spd, Wildwood brakes on all 4 corners, control arms replaced with chromoly tubes. Even has coil overs on all 4 corners. About half the total spent was on labor to get it all done though. Way too much to list. I can post a link to the build thread if anyone wants more info, build thread at www.westcoastfieros.com/forum and then look in build threads.------------------ 85GT Soon to be 87GT,93 Eldorado 4.9, 5spd Dual O2 Custom Chip, Custom Exhaust. There is no category that I can be placed in... I'm just too unique...
But some of us fit in these categories PERFECTLY.
There's always one guy on the website who reposts political right-wing news... (our buddy Avengadore) There's always that one guy who turns Independant from being Democrat (my close personal friend Steve who I've never met) There's always one guy who ends up being the butt of the jokes, just waiting for the next noob to take his spot (PK86)
The list goes on...

I would nominate myself as the longest since driving my Fiero- it's been at least 10, maybe 12 years since I've had it registered. I'll have to go look at the plates to know for sure.IP: Logged |

But is he a member on PFF? I'm pretty sure the description of "member" means registered to the board and active. Would I be wrong?

Best use of Fiero or PFF in creative writing? Most likely to never finish their Fiero? Most charitable member?

All right, categories have been added and "finalized". No more categories can be added at this point and I'm creating the nominations thread right now. Get those brain juices flowing cause now the tough deciding process begins. IP: Logged |
