No matter how clean I keep my place, my PC always ends up suckin' in and buildin' up some dust over time... I try to clean it out a few times a year, just to keep it nice and clean. Lately, I've been hearin' something moving around inside the box,(something ALIVE?!?! ) and I don't think the air's flowin' as well as it used to, so I figured I'd open it up and take some before/after pics...

How often do you open your pc and clean it out?

I found a similiar setup in my freezer a few months ago, I think it's the same guy.(The little guy that turns the light off when you close the door...)

(And yeah, that HDD's one of those wireless versions)

most of the time when I upgrade something. I do think I will start cleaning it more often, last time it was full of spiders.

You got a Bluetooth hard drive? SWEET!

Edit to add: My desktop computer has an air filter, so I don't need to clean it very often. About once a year is usually enough. However, I vacuum out the air filter about once a month.

A few times every decade or so. Well okay, just once ever. When I added some memory. Flame on! I deserve it.

Once a month. If I don't the fans start to wail loud as all hell. Keeping them dust free keeps my OC'd processor nice and cool.

off topic a bit. Long ago, I had a MB, that whoever did the printed circuits, had put a design into the layout. A bird of some kind, and it wasn't by coincidence. Anyone run accross anything similar?

Engineers loved to do that kind of stuff back in the day. I haven't seen it that much lately.

alot has to do with where the PC sits. get it off the carpet is step #1

anyways - you can get cases which have filters on the intake fans. makes a big difference. just about every rack mount case has a filter intake setup.

All 3 of my intake fans have filters. I clean them every 2 weeks (just to be safe). I open the case and clean everything else about once a month. I dust/brush the outside about once a week. The only thing I have trouble keeping clean is the top exhaust fan. It's tough to get to the fan blades so I just do my best to clean it with canned air (from the outside/top) when I open the case. The 2 rear exhaust fans tend to stay pretty clean oddly enough. The fan on my vid card stays pretty clean too.
