One from my recent road trip west in the sporty Ryder rental truck... Here is one I took of a bridge many may have seen a Vin "drive" a Corvette off of. Once when young and dumb, my "Crew" as well as other locals used to climb down to the tops of the pillars via the service access and gangways. There we would get adjusted and do other stupid stuff inches from the edge of a very long fall. Although the stairs are within girders and the tops of the concrete bridge supports are railed in, there is a lot of room for error. Anyway, below the bridge you can find this sign, that although does not refer to the 750 ft high Foresthill Bridge, it does sort of seem to. The "big" picture. ------------------ Wudman www.wudman.com TheWudIsGood www.fierodriver.com Home of the one and only Fiero Photo-Rama

I drive that bridge every day (Foresthill Bridge)! They left the Corvettes they tossed off on the side of the road for several days. Pretty flattened.
One time some teenagers were on one walkway and decided to jump the barriers and go to the otherside of the bridge. The first one crossed the road to the center and leaped over the barrier. He dropped 10ft to the catwalk in the center. One lucky guy. Bet he never does that again!
And yes, people do jump. Sad.

Lucky kid, that he didn't miss the catwalk was sheer luck. There is more than enough room to miss and practice your high speed approach to the very shallow river below. Few get to see what happens to stuff when you drop it from 80 stories.
Sadly, once there was an accident on I-80 at the Hwy 20 exit where two women crashed off the bridge in a 280Z. A motorist stopped to help and proceeded to jump over the guard rail in the middle thinking there was something on the other side. If I recall, there was nothing he could have done for the women in the car as they perished as well. Look before you leap is a good rule of thumb.
