2nd Choice? 88 GT 5spd STOCK
3rd Choice? fully modified, but must be a complete, well engineered swap, fully documented if possible

Check your PM for some suggestions. Also read up on what to look for in a sound space frame vehicle. High mileage Eastern vehicles "erode from the inside out".

It will take time to find a nice 88GT as they were made in much fewer numbers than the 85-87GT's Its also not "car season" right now. They do come up for sale in the mall here periodically and expanding the search to a wider geographical area is sometimes the key to finding a nice Fiero.

Just in case you don't know, you can search all Craigslist locations at the same time like so: fiero 1988 site:craigslist.org. I just did that and returned 677 hits. Of course the majority of them are parts but quite a few cars popped up. To me it's worth expanding your search area to see what's out there. You might find you are willing to ship a car that's in better shape or just a great deal. As a second way to monitor the market you can also run a Saved Search on eBay and anytime a new 88 Fiero is posted you will be notified.

Oh, I forgot to mention, often times Forum Members will be happy to go check out a car for you if you are considering one that has to be shipped.

There's a few for sale, but you'll probably end up having to look in other locations... Specifically looking for a Mera or 88 GT 5 speed only around the NJ area is like finding a needle in a haystack, especially as Dennis said; one in good shape under the plastic skin. The specific Fieros you're looking for are the most desirable and tend to sell for the biggest money.

Keep an eye out on the various for sale sites, one is bound to pop up! Shipping is an option, and buying a decent, non-running, rust free Fiero from out west is a lot cheaper than finding one around here that's rotting away...
