I have a streetruner hypertech chip that came out of my 86 GT 4sp manual.
The box says it will work with 86 and 87 4 speed manuals.

What exactly does it do?

I believe it s been programed to ajust the fuel trim and raise the idle but been a while and i actually have a fairly new one in the box for the 88s only -- Also requires you get the thermostat 180 temp and with the sensor which is available as a kit by FS or Summit Racing if still avail .. You 'll notice a slight RPM increase and as for power it is very controversial where some have seen some power increase and others seen nothing so there you go - This topic been beaten enough and you can catch on and it s all been said in the forum .. Maybe someone here can chime in more ---
