Current engine has 2 spun rod bearings. Seems like I can find a lot of 2.5 Vin R engines that are 87 and up for fair prices, but don't want to go through all the trouble of converting to the DIS. Hoping for something in pickup distance of Wichita, KS but would be willing to pay shipping for the right motor.

Going in a 85 SE with auto.

Someone at one time posted some ebay links of rebuilt 82-83 long blocks a while back, but cannot seem to find it any longer or don't know what to search for on Ebay.

I have a 2.5 from an 88 5 speed.
The car has suffered damage when the kid ran into a cement parking block.
The engine runs great, I know I took a video of it, and I also have the 5 speed trans on it.
I kept the setup because they had spent 1400.00 on the trans rebuild and I wanted the 88 parts for my other two 88s
I am coming to see my dad in Iowa in about 3 weeks so I could drop it off on the way or e could meet part way.
Thanks pat

I appreciate the offer on the 88 engine, but I'm looking for a non DIS duke with a distributor. I understand i can make this engine work, but would require close to the same effort as installing a V6 (with wire harness, different flywheel, ECM, etc). I'm mainly looking for a quick replacement to get it up and running again.

Not quite Kansas Toto, but I have a 2.5 out of an 84 ran well just leaked. As long as I had to pull it out I rebuilt another and just swapped it to save downtime.

A good friend pulled the iron duke out of his 86 S10 with 45K on the clock. I'm sure he would ship it on a pallet to you if you are interested.

Thanks for the response.

From what I read, the S10 duke will work but will require additional work in starter location and inability to use the fiero waterpump. I didn't find too many articles on this site describing the swap, but if someone else has a link that better describes the differences I could be interested.
