Been looking for Cradle Bolt for Pontiac Fiero 1988 for weeks now. What happens if you drive the car with only one I wonder?

Anyone have an idea what kind is best?

Put that one back in before you find out what can happen.

I just tore off a Cradle Bolt for a 1988 Pontiac Formula, using a Strut Bolt off of a Ford Taurus. Put a Washer on it. Perfect fit.

$0.00

That Bolt went in without a problem. I will have pics up and coming. I tested it using a nut on the original object, which was my Cradle Bolt for the left side where torque converter is. The right side was missing and everything is going good

The 88 cradle bolts are unique to that year this is why the Fiero store does not carry them. The 88 front cradle bolts are shouldered as the 88 cradle has no bushings. The rear cradle bolts are also unique to that year. A regular 10.9 grade or better bolt up front is better than nothing but the originals are best as the shouldering provides a precise fit and correct spacing when tightened. The 84 to 87 bolts front and back are longer and the front cradle bolts are shouldered for bushings, special washers for bushings are required for the rear bolts as well. So the 84 to 87 bolts are NOT interchangeable with the 88 model year front or back.

Thanks Guys.

M12 X 1.75 X 100mm in 10.9 grade sounds about right. Fiero store doesn't have any 88' style front ones that go straight up.

Fierostore does not sell Rear 88' Cradle Bolts and even if you see the.jpg is what you want or the index.html portion of their website form lets you fill out under 'check my cart', the, "Model" and "Year". I put in 1988 Sport since I have a Formula 1988 Pontiac Fiero. The store ends up sending me a bolt that is for the other side and goes sideways instead of 90 degrees up. I guess you would call those back Cradle Bolts. The thing is they did NOT send me the correct year Cradle Bolt much less the right size or type.

I'm only stating go find a Ford Taurus; ANY Ford Taurus and take the the Bolt that goes sideways into the strut OUT for the back wheels etc and you will not spend a dime or strip your crap.

When you order parts from TFS, the year is marked for what fiero...no rocket science there.

They offer front 84-88 cradle bolts and 84-87 rear cradle bolts.

All 88s had the same bolts for the cradle...no difference for the coupe, Formula, or the GT.
If you have a question or problem, call TFS and they will work with you to fix the problem.
They don't bite, and offer friendly service to get you and your car back on the road.
I personally never had a problem and not shy to say that I spent over 10,000$ in parts since 1999.

A+ service.

I called them, they do NOT have 88' Cradle Bolts for a 88'. I spent $0.00 thus far. Thank You for your input guys. I am just here to save us all thousands in the next 2 decades nobody will have to spend a dime and I won't have to constantly call the Fiero Store about their website. I am still stuck with a Cradle Bolt they sent me that was $14.00. I have to spend MY money to ship it back. Retarded really. I just want to save you guys the time, energy, and MONEY.

I want this thread up for awhile for Cradle Bolt issues for all years and models. Meaning a Ford Taurus Strut Bolt will take care of your $ issues. I know model doesn't care when you're about to buy things at the TFS, but the www.index.html portion of that checkout page shouldn't give me the option to put in 88' and then they keep sending me the wrong bolt and then tell me they DON'T have 88' Cradle Bolts after they send the wrong one and then tell me they don't have it. I am just tired of TFS sending me the wrong thing when I specifically put 1988 and Sport or whatever ( that part doesn't matter I know that )

I just saved everyone who is missing one or two Cradle Bolts the total sum of $48.00 in bolts AVERAGE -- just for the front set of Cradle Bolts alone - If I wasn't deaf i would call them and argue semantics and similarities. It's not my fault a bolt is half a $100.00 and nobody knows programming skills.

I will have pictures of this bolt when I get back.

No spending $48.00 from other Fiero owners ( plus shipping of course )or $14.00 ( plus shipping ) from TFS when this bolt I have from a Ford Taurus works perfectly. Will get pictures soon.

Tractor Supply carries a big assortment of bolts and so does NAPA. My choice would be NAPA. Last time I was there they had hundreds of boxes of automotive bolts.
