I don't think it's that expensive at all for such a unique crate motor. If you go to Chevrolet.com, very common 350s can cost thousands more.

Just saw another one on ebay, less than half the price and still brand new:

This belongs in a Fiero.

TXOPIE, if it was "tempting" at 5000$, how about at 2250$? Frees up some cash to get a Holley HP EFI standalone ECM from CHRFAB preprogrammed for a Northstar, and a matching harness. That would at least shorten the time it will take to properly tune it.
