I'm looking to do a 3.4 OHV swap from the 93-95 Camaro/Firebird into my '84 Duke'd Fiero, I just have some questions for people who have done it.
Is the 3.4 worth the extra difficulty with an '84 vs the 2.8?
And would there be difficulties using the Fiero intake instead of the stock Camaro/Firebird intake for CA smog+BAR purposes?
Mostly I'm looking for the general overall cost of the swap and specific difficulties involved with swapping into an '84 Duke Fiero, and whether it would be *subjectively* worth it.

Here's the part list I have so far:
3.4 OHV V6 from 93-95 Camaro/Firebird, 3.4 Fuel pump, 2.8 mounts, 2.8 throttle cable, 2.8 wiring harness, 2.8 ECM + bracket, 2.8 dogbone + 2.8 intake, timing cover, and oil pan. Also in my case 5-speed, shift cables, shifter + mounts.

Any advice or anecdotes would be appreciated.

Why bother with a pushrod 3.4. Set your sights on a 3800 supercharged. The difficulty is about the same.

That would be a lot of fun, I'm just worried about finding a manual transmission that would be able to take that kind of power, as I only want my Fiero to be a stick. The 4-speed Muncie I have in it probably wouldn't do too well with triple the power going through it. Can the other Fiero V6 transmissions handle the power of 3800SC pulls? I wouldn't be dumping the clutch or anything, but I'd like to be able to rev it out without it grenading on me.
My other concern would be passing CA smog... I believe they wouldn't allow it with a manual as they all came with autos. The 3.4 not so much. Maybe the 3800NA.
