Does anyone have a pic of the hole where the distributor goes in ? The reason is that on my Indy the distributor doesn’t turn, but when I pulled the dis I noticed that there isn’t a cross where the distributor goes on so when the cam rotates the distributor turns.

If it is fully engaged and the distributor rotor does not turn when the engine is being turned over with the starter, the timing gear is probably stripped. Can you see the cam gear turning? You may need a new timing gear. If it is that replace with th steel version not the nylon one.

Look into oil fill port and see if rockers move trying to start engine. Yes, then problem is Not cam timing gear.
No, See my Cave, Cam Gears

L4 Dist Doesn't drive the Oil Pump etc.
Cam gear drive the Dist directly and is on top on Dist hole. You can't see w/o mirror etc w/ engine in the car.

OP have another gear on cam to drive that.
OP drive shaft cover is near Oil Filter.
