Cable and shifter wears etc and shifter doesn't match position of the trans shift arm. Most shifter spots doesn't matter much but Park missmatch will have problems.

Neutral Safety SwitchThen Need ECM scan tool and look NSS line says in gear or not.
ECM gets a signal from same and adjust idle etc.
Dirty/bad switch can = bad ECM signal.
Other wires on same may have problems and not affect others.
Example: Big wires on the switch are starter interlock but starts so they are ok.
Isn't TCC locking feature.
Problems for that causes stalling when stopped in gear. Often when drive on highway then stop at T-light or sign at end of ramp etc.
Can unplug it just for a test. is on trans front. Make sure unplug plug can't melt by exhaust.
