Have any of you guys had experience with Nankang Tires on your Formula. The NS-20 Noble tires will fit(205/55-15), but are they good OR bad on Fieros?

They are a smaller diameter than stock so the speedo will read faster than your actual speed. I have no experience with the brand.

Take a look at Tire rack- You can just punch in your car and they will show you the tires that fit that are available. At the moment it shows 4 choices ranging from Kumho @ $152 (Close out) up to Firestone @ $389.(Both those prices are for a SET of tires).....There are simply not much in choices for those sizes....

(Tire sizes explained; 205/55-15>>> The 205 is the total width of the tire in millimeters; (Divide by 25.4 to get inches)....55 is the aspect ratio (Percentage of the width that is the sidewall height (55% of 205 = 113 (4.4" for each sidewall)....and of course, the "15" is the wheel diameter in inches.

205/60-15 = 24.6" diameter

215/60-15 = 25.2" Diameter

205/55-15 = 23.8" Diameter

Not a big fan of "off brands" but in this situation you can't be real choosy......Those Kumhos are a good deal and they actually rate pretty high....You can have Tirerack deliver to a local shop for installation...(I have my friend at Big O do it (And now Big O usually can match Tire racks prices)

Added note; A lot of people try to get that super low sidewall look but A) It will throw off your Speedo, B) It will change your engine RPM (At Freeway speed 3000 rpm vs 2600) and you can easily strip the tire and damage the rim from hitting debris....(If you must have that look, you need to go to a bigger diameter WHEEL, so that the outside diameter of the tire equals your original tire's diameter(And you don't end up with gigantic gaps around the tire/wheel well)) (I went with 16 x 7 wheels and 205/55 and 225/55 tires.....(To see how it looks, do a search for cvxjet's B pillars) (These size tires were very common so they still make a large selection of tires)

I wonder how Tire Rack handles delivery to Hawaii.

I have just been looking into that- Discount tire/America's tire has shops over there, but I don't see Big O......

As a suggestion, contact Tire rack and ask them- that is actually how I found out that Big O around the corner could take delivery (And install)...they probably have done this before....Also, Tire Rack can help you select new wheels- and try to go with the lightest you can- I took 3 lbs off each rear and 6 lbs off each front when I switched and the car felt substantially better)(Basically 40 lbs off the wheel/tire weight equals 200 lbs off the regular vehicle weight- but it also allows our (Relatively) un-refined suspension to work better)

I am not very fond of Asian/Chinese tires as they might not meet D.O.T. specs.
The products of Chinese tire companies often lack basic safety measures and quality control. At one time their tires didn't contain gum strips, an essential component that keeps the steel ring attached to the tire framework. Poor quality tires made in China are now the subject of various defective product lawsuits, filed by customers who allege that they are too dangerous to use and have resulted in individual injury and wrongful death. Numerous tire brands made by Chinese companies are among the worst tire brands in the industry. Buyer beware! Buy American, Canadian, European but anything but that.

It all depends on the profile. I went to low profile tires on 17" rims that are nearly the same diameter as the stock tires. On the rear I use 215x45x17 tires and on the front use 205x45x17 tires. Goodyear V speed rated all around, good to 155 mph.
24.62" OD for the 215 x 45x17
25.16" OD for the stock 215x60x15
That's less than 1/2" difference overall and in theory only sit 1/4" lower BUT the 215x45x17 tires run at a higher tire pressure so the net difference is very negligible .It does require a change of wheels but IMO it brings a more modern look to the Fiero.
