I have an 85 duke and have had an intermittent miss at 2000-2500 rpms for about a year. I replaced cap, rotor, plugs and wires and it improved but still there. I checked timing but have difficulty because it seems to jump. ( I did jumper the ALDL) I purchased a new distributor but decided to replace the coil before changing the distributor out. I put in a new stock coil and the miss immediately got worse. Pulled the car into my garage and noticed an arc from the coil wire to the base of the coil. I had an old wire so I changed it and the arc went away. This makes me suspect the wires I got may not be the best. I considered getting some from Rock Auto. The premium sets. Does anyone have good suggestions for new wires or experience with Rock Auto?

Stock wires should be available at your local parts store. They should be the same stuff that Rock Auto has, and easier to return if something needs it. They often have 3 price levels available....avoid the cheap line. High-priced wire sets don't work any better...they may look better. I would also change plugs if I was changing wires.
