I realize the older style tank holds less, but wondered if there are other issues? Because I cant seem to find a 1987 style tank.

Needs some reconditioning but did you see this one in the mall.....//www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/077419.html
You can also check a bunch of pick/pull places by doing a search at ..... www.car-parts.com

I've never seen a gas tank at Pick N Pull that did not have a big hole in the bottom. It's a shame but I guess they can't have all that fuel out in the yard where people might get hurt.

Thanks. Would there be any issue using the sending unit from the old rusted 87? The 85 is just the tank.

I put a tank out of an 86 in my 88. Wasn't an exact fit. Had to make some spacers that went on the straps to hold it tight. Will work though.

The Fiero Store replacement would work if your 87 sender is shot.
Either unit will fit the tank.
