You mean no emergency brake whatsoever or do you have a plan "B" to get the vehicle to stop should the upgraded brakes malfunction?
I was recently in a situation when the rear brake line on my Jeep rotted out due to road salt. I was on the turnpike at legal speed of 70 mph. Shortly after getting off that highway my rear brakes failed in the city of Philadelphia. Brake pedal went nearly to the floor and I had to use the emergency brake to prevent a bad situation. That situation could of been the death of some school children or just as frightening if it happened at 70 mph. I nursed my way home using the emergency brake & what little front brakes I had remaining.
Another situation was with my 4 speed Fiero. A front caliper locked up while traveling and car was pulling to the right. I pried the pad away from the rotor using a lug-handle wrench and used the emergency brake along with downshifting to get home safely.
The element of surprise can be breath-taking in itself and then realize you have no backup brake system in place..... all within a few seconds.
Sorry for the rambling on, so for a brake upgrade I'd suggest doing a search on the this forum. Many have done them and you can pick and choose what you feel would work for you.
