purchased a "Munson head light kit" a while back, installed it and was driving the other night. Went to put on the high beams and was not impressed, i'm wondering if anyone knows how to get the high-beams and low-beams to stay on at the same time? When the low beams are on, and you select the high, the low turn off, and the high come on, but, there is no difference in the amount of light because the high and low use the same bulb. You just "swap one set for another". I'd like to have them all stay on when I select "high".

Thanks in advance.

Roger Thelin sells those kits and has apparently come out with an improved set of headlight bulbs that increase light output. He probably has the answer for you.

Be careful. Burning both beams at the same time may overload wiring that was never designed for it.

Hopefully Roger has made the high and low beams independantly adjustable. My flushmount beams weren't and were not synchronized so that you could switch from high to low and still be properly focused on the roadway. If you adjusted one level correctly, the other was way off so I just used low beams. Even so, the recessed design cut off illumination of the road for a good distance ahead and to the sides. A good set of driving/fog lights was needed.

If you search here you find several issues/problems and most never go away. Some have remove the covers or completely because of this. (Many States is illegal to have covers over HL and won't pass inspection etc.)
If you kit was used then likely PO hated the "upgrade" then sold.

Just 1 example: Beside one light is partly behind the other... Most are installed so HL are mounted badly and part of light output goes the radiator etc not the road.

4 HL on is not safe for Fiero wiring so need to add relay(s) etc.
Then add 4 bulbs On = High Beam to cops etc and will be a problem that can get you stopped anywhere you drive if you can't dim them.

IMO the Munson headlight system is a good looking addition to a car show or hobby car. A nice edition if you drive your Fiero occasionally but not as a daily driver. The night time light patterns have been thoroughly discussed on this forum. The lights work but leave a blind spot 25" in front of the vehicle. This light pattern can be broadened with a pair of driving lights mounted in the front but at this point few owners use a Fiero as a daily driver..
