Ok, here is more info. I turn on the headlights and the radiator fan comes on. I turn the lights off the fan stops. I turn the lights on immediately and the fan does not come on. I don't get it. Any insights from anyone?
If it's primarily a stock car, I'd remove the dash (doesn't take long) and start tracing the wiring using a GM Factory Manual. If it's a customized car, ergo the reason for the mess, a manual might not help as much and the process might be much longer...

You may want to do a Google search for an online free 87 Fier o Factory Service Manual? If you have not already done so. Who knows you may get lucky and locate one.
Still sorting out issues on my new-to-me 87 GT. When I turn on the headlights the radiator fan comes on. Is this normal? Thanks, Daryl
Turn off your AC completely, and then test if the fan starts. If the AC is on it will start the radiator fan. If the AC is off and the radiator fan comes on when the lights come on, could be wired wrongly if someone has messed with the electrical. Keep going on the manual.

I agree, check the wireing, especially at the fan relay. Might be wire chafing, a bare spot grounding on the body. So turn on the car and headlights and start jiggling wires, to see it the fan stops... you may need to buy a newer, (87\88 front end) wireing harness, if you can't find the source of the problem.
