Does anyone know if all of the V6 Throttle Bodies Idle screws were all same design STAR key ? I had mine bored many years ago and never thought of looking at it until recently when I went to adjust and realized it is a FLAT screwdriver type - Wasn't sure if it was replaced by someone or did any came like that from factory? An 87 GT I looked at not long ago had the STAR key screw --- If it was replaced then they surely messed me up on the factory spec adjust and i ll need to get that corrected -

Hard to know for sure, because they are supposed to be not visible......but the few I have seen were all slot screw heads.

That s interesting but you are correct it is hidden deep in the socket hole and if I recall from factory the hole was sealed so no one would mess with the idle control screw -

Is there something wrong with your idle speed?

Yes i think it is out of its normal setting- I had my OBD1 doing data programing and my idle is running around 1100 when warm and no vacuum leak whatsoever
I had brought it down a bit by adjusting the screw but I had to question this funny adjusting screw which Im not sure if factory or was the original lost and someone put a different in there - Just a guess as I have no proof of anything. .....

I just helped a friend who had the same problem with a Fiero he just bought.

Try this:

Get engine fully warmed up. Shut off engine.
Jumper the ALDL connector.
//www.fiero.nl/cgi-bin/main.cgi?ECMCodes

Turn key ON, but do not start engine.
After 30 seconds, unplug wiring from IAC motor. (#8 in diagram)
Start engine now (ignore flashing Check Engine light).
Turn adjustment screw until engine idles at 800rpm.
Shut off engine, remove ALDL jumper and reconnect IAC motor.
The ECM should now idle engine at proper RPM unless there is something else wrong.
