Hi. I completed a v8 engine swap but need help finding a passenger side rear cv axle longer than stock. About inch longer. Looking for 27 7/8 inch compressed length. Gm did make an axle with appropriate diameter and spline count in this length. It has been reference on this forum before but I cannot find source vehicle part number. Any help is appreciated.

What transmission are you using, and how much is it offset from stock location?

You can also search around the forum and find out where others have gotten custom axles made. Joe may know (olejoedad) as well.

you Do Realize that that 125 trans will not last long, besides the High RPM you will be seeing. Have a Trans swap in your mind for the future. LOL

Measure the length of your existing passenger side axle, with it standing up and fully compressed.

How do I load a picture? Took cv assembly apart. Took picture on phone. Cannot figure out how to load from my phone. The spindle shaft length is 17 7/8. Would like to find 19 inch. Archie’s list shows there is one but no idea part number. Again any help appreciated.

Using the program called pennocks image poster is a reliable way. On the bottom of the screen Is a red and blue botton.

You can also use a random image hosting service.

Pennocks Image Poster works and is most reliable but is tedious.

We know what the inside of the axle looks like....

I need a compressed length of your existing axle assembly to get a part number for the longer axle assembly.

It looks like he is saying "Looking for 27 7/8 inch compressed length".
So his must currently be 26 7/8 it seems.

Well found two solutions. First a machine shop here in North Dakota modified my existing axle. Temp fix. It worked. First drive last weekend. Permanent fix was a custom axle from the Drive Shaft Shop in Salisbury North Carolina. Good service.

One of these days will post some pics.
