The heater hose connection to the intake is made to a formed pipe which is inserted into a hole in the rear of the intake. The pipe on my intake has come loose. There does not appear to be anything mechanically holding the pipe in place. I don't think that pushing the pipe back into the hole will hold since it is quite loose. What approaches have you used for this connection. I was thinking of getting a pipe thread fitting and tapping the hole, but there is not much meat around the hole and I am afraid it will crack. Pictures below.

I might be inclined to just clean both mating surfaces thoroughly, and use two-part epoxy or JB weld to hold it in.
If you can expand the pipe just a bit in order to make it a "force fit", it might help. I would still use the adhesive.

I have the same setup, but my pipe appears to not be going anywhere. I did, however, use JB weld to block off the heater hose fitting on the back of the water pump. Then I installed a rubber cap over it. (If yours is an 86 or older, please disregard. You will need that fitting.)

I concur. You are working with cast aluminum. JB Weld will seat that tube securely

Getting off topic a bit; I was always curious whether or not the Allante Intake boosts horsepower and/or shifts the power curve. I should have a 4.9L on the road soon and it would be good to know. Any before or after dyno or road tests available?.

yes the Allante intake adds some power. The engine breaths better and gets better top end performance. I don't have figures handy to give you though

Well I guess a "seat of the pants" feel is some indication but I was hoping for dyno numbers. Looking at the design it would appear that the long runners will help the bottom end. Adding the Allante upper and lower to a 4.9L is a bit of work and was looking to consider the risk vs reward results
