Can't seem to figure out, car ran great then all of a sudden you can't give it any gas it just pops back thru throttle body and want idle, starts up. 2.8 has done this in the past but would clear out. Looking for suggestions, Thanks

I had this happen to me last year. I had to replace the Throttle position sensor and that fixed the issue. I hope that helps!

That's what I thought, replaced that first, didn't help also tried another coil, didn't help. Thinking maybe Ign. mod. Also changed rotor button and cap. Can't figure it out.

Thanks for the reply

While your waiting for the ICM. You should check all your vacuum lines for leaks.

Maybe the nut on the distributor got loose and your timing is off...

Check your fuel pressure, have you changed the fuel filter? Sometimes its worth taking it in to a good mechanic. I took mine in to have the timing set(i couldnt get it) and the injectors cleaned. Car runs like a champ now

good luck

Check your fuel pressure with a gauge. See what it does when you try revving the engine. Many times parts stores let you borrow one. Make sure it is for a fuel injected vehicle and can read up to 60 psi and has a thread on connection.

Popping through intake can be a lea condition do checking fuel pressure under load is a good idea.

Also it could be the distributor is just too worn out. Just went through this on my 1993 Jeep XJ and the rotor was hitting the pickup every once in a while, then got worse. This was also a newer re-manufactured distributor.

I had this happen on my first Fiero, everything says timing, but the 88s (duke) are not adjustable.
I put on some GOOD spark plug wires and totally went away.

By GOOD I mean low ohm spiral wrapped core wires, like Taylors are now.

Edit to add: I see its a 2.hate, see if your EGR tube has cracked, very common problem.
