EVM had a mechanical fuel injection system for the SD4 as well.

Interesting yes but most likely good for racing only. Mechanical fuel injection systems are usually tuned for a limited RPM range. For street I believe MPFI does a more efficient job as the computer controls the requirement of the engine based on load, RPM, temperature, throttle position and MAP readings. IMO the Fiero ECM does an adequate job of optimizing power on the 60* V6 setups.

That looks really interesting. But I already have a Falconer intake (which was modified by the previous owner to use GM MPFI).

More common in the 60's - 70's on the V-8's as I recall
