The color code for 84-88 white paint is a code 40 WA 8554. Thought I saw something on one of Pennock' sites that in 2015 the same paint is available under a different gm code. . Any info would be appreciated.. Its hard to find a Duplicolor ds gm 338 which was close.

Need a spray can of White code 40 WA 8554 for the 84-88, go to automobile touchup.com, look under Pontiac Fiero 1991 ( why I don't know, no listing for 84-88). 12 oz. for $19.99 + postage. Previously bought from these people for a touch up on a 1990 neighbors car medium metallic gray..perfect match up. You might try them for other colors..give them a call, very helpful people.

40U (upper) 40L (lower) body color codes been used for 40 years, then became 8554 when basecoat/clearcoat paints became oem. Always go by the codes...never the names. ie/ Classic White on a Chevy is Castilian White on a Caddy for say one year, and the names frequently change to different but similar colors the next. Classic White was once called Pure White, then Coca-Cola White (because Coke made it their fleet color along with red). The codes never change.

And if you want to touch up an entire panel without worrying about blending, spray your color on very light just to cover the panel and then finish with Spraymax clear. It is a 2 part clearcoat that is activated by a push button on the bottom of the can. Once mixed, you have 24 hours to use it before it hardens in the can. Also you will need fresh air to spray it since it is a high chemical compound almost exact to automotive paint and comes out shiny as hell:

I know some NAPA stores will premix you whatever color you want and put it in a spray bomb for you. Not sure about price.

Most Sherwin williams auto paint stores mix cans for you for about $20. They can also mix it as single stage so you dont have to clear it.
