It's a simple question really, and I've looked everywhere for an answer. I have an '85 Fiero SE with the stock 2.8 V6. I'm lookin in to buying a '95 F-body Firebird with the 3.4L. It's got the 4spd automatic trans, and 1st gear in my Fiero's 3sp slushbox is slipping to shreds (I made the mistake of replacing the tranny fluid). So my questions sits as it is:

When I swap the engine, can I use the newer 4sp auto? Or is it easier to rebuild my crappy 3sp? (I don't have the shift linkage anymore to convert her to manual). Thanks!

Totally different - the f-body is a longitudinal transmission, the Fiero's is transverse. Wouldn't work.

But you could go to a 4T60 4-speed auto. Or have your TH125C rebuilt with better components.

The 4T60 with 3.33 final is great transmission behind the 3.4 in a Fiero.
