engine shuts down at lights when at running temperature by 1966charger

after it shuts down it will start in neutral or park but shuts down when put in gear.

Is it an automatic? If it is unplug the torque converter lock up wire.

I have a 4 cylinder 5 speed that does the same thing. when it cools down I can drive it off again.. Still have not figured it out.
