I have a very nice low mile engine and auto transmission from a 1984 Fiero.

Is this a direct drop in for 84-86 4-cylinder Fiero's that were automatics?

I'm looking for a clean frame platform to swap these into. Something without major rust damage that needs a new engine etc.. and I'd like to find something that this will basically directly bolt into without a bunch of money and changes involved.

Directly the same... 84 only.

Will it work in an 85-86, yes. But make sure you have the entire motor because they are different internally. I've also heard you need to use the 85-86 distributor. 87-88 will not work.

Engine wiring harness, Distributor, coil, OP sender, and TBI are different for 84 vs 85-86.
Depending on several things engine internal are same or different because car options and/or recall/warranty engine replacement.

Ahh thanks guys. Ogre excellent info in your cave I can't believe I never saw it before now.

I guess I'll try to get an '84 for a few weeks then consider the later years if I don't have luck~

+'s for both of you.
