Alright guys. Its pains me to say this but my 88 formula with a highly modified 3800 is kicking my butt. I dont know what is wrong with it. I have zero clue and i am out of money, ideas, and patience.
It is a beautiful car mechanicaly. Zero rust desert car with all new everything. You name it its new or replaced or rebuilt.
I want to know what would give the most bang for buck. Parting it out :cringe: or trying to sell whole?
This is just something ive been pondering for awhile and i want to see how much money im going to loose.
Thanks
Josh

Edit. Also just put it in techinical because thats what i clicked on. It can get moved if needed.

You'll likely get the most for it parting it out unless someone who really knows the swaps and wants one and is willing to troubleshoot the problem.
The sad reality is a non-running project car is usually worth much less than the sum of it's parts.

Parting out is a headache, depends what your time is worth I suppose. You could maybe un-modify till it runs?
I assume there is a thread on the issues?

It still runs horrible. I dont think its from my recent upgrades. The gen5 sc and shortstack intercooler and 3.0 pulley and lq4 maf and n* throttle body
Rather i think its maybe the tune. I cant determine what is causing it in hpt. Or its something electrical. Like a bad ground. I am working up some motivation to work on it tonight and im going to check all the conections between sensors and the pcm.

If anyone has a pinout for a 2000 3800 pcm that would be solid. I can only find one connector. Not the one with injectors 12456 and the crank and cam inputs.
Thanks
Josh

How much are you looking for it?

98 - 2002 PCMs have the same wiring - http://www.gmtuners.com/fil...o_L67_PCM_wiring.pdf

You should talk to Ryan Gick about getting a tune from him. sp1@gmtuners.com

Well there is 13000 into it lol. I know id get no where near that so 6k is something id like to see. But since that is never going to happen. Might as well keep trying to fix it.

Hard to diagnose without seeing it but a few questions. Did the engine ever run good? Did you put the LQ4 MAF table values put in the program? Do you have a good PCM editor and scanner program?
Assuming the answers to all questions are yes, then its time to scan for any DTC's, record all sensor readings and fuel trim values. I don't see any other way to solve the issues.

Yes. It ran well. Rich but ran like it should before i brought it to get tuned at a local shop. They ****ed something up and now it runs like garbage. I am using hptuner and yes to the lq4 data and the other questions. I have scanned and recorded it. No dtcs but for some reason and with no pattern my injector banks pulse width will go from 3.5ish msec to 0 and back.

HP tuners editor should be able to tell you what changes the tuning shop made to your PCM. Did you save your original tuning file? If you can't figure out what's wrong contact Ryan at Sinister. He has loads of tuning experience on these engines and should be able to get your PCM running properly again.
If you insist on the DIY approach, download one of the shared tuning files for a similar set up from the HP Tuners website. Use the compare feature for all tuning parameters and find out where the differences lie.
Just from your report; your injector pulse width, if it really is 3 msec is WAY off. At low RPMs you should be in the area of 150-200ms and at high RPMs like 10-20 ms. Your engine may be starving for fuel.
