On my way to class today I noticed my voltmeter reading alittle low, around 12v just above the red. Normally I'm somewhere between 13 and 14 atleast. I'm between classes and checked the battery with a multimeter and I have 12.6v there, which sounds like it was being charged. If I turn the key to the on position the voltmeter actually shows alittle higher than when the car was running. When I'm done I'm going to start it and check again with it running.

Are there any fusible links I can check out? Any tests I can do with my meter without wasting charge?

BTW I just replaced my rotor, distributor cap, icm and ignition coil last week but I don't see how this would affect the alternator.

Check and clean all connections coming from the battery and alternator, sometimes it can be just a lose connection.

But your battery sounds a little low, it should be almost 13 volts sitting, almost.

Can't find anything obvious, was charging yesterday. When I get home I'll take a look in my Haynes manual and see if there's any tests I can do. My battery was replaced June of last year too.

Made it home and am charging it now, charger said it was at 25%, once it's charged I'm going to try the alternator check option on the charger

Continuity from the big leg of the alternator to the pos side of the battery and the charger said it was bad.
