I'm heading out the door to work, so I have to keep this short and simple.

Im looking at swapping in the engine from a lumina donor but havent even started window shopping yet. I'm going to hit the junk yards and I know prices will vary but what the general expected price range and hours invested for this engine swap? Im in the 86 2.5 5 speed.

I'd presume he means the 3.4 DOHC out of the Z34 Lumina.

No swap is cheap or easy. Whatever anyone tells you for cost or time, expect to double or triple it.

I was thinking that also, but wasn't sure. I guess I would skip the DOHC engine and use a 3800. I liked the DOHC I had in my Grand Prix, but the 3800 is more popular and probably cheaper, in the long run.

Iron Duke?
3.1 MPFI?
3100 SFI?
3.4 DOHC?

Maybe its the TBI 3.1 from the Lumina vans...

how much will it cost and how long it takes depend on how handy you are at this type of thing as some find it hard to do others find it is easy to do so it comes down to your skills

If it is a Lumina and down to being a donor, the car may be beat. I don't recall the Lumina drive train as being anything special in terms of performance or durability. Low miles? maybe good. the engine is the issue. What engine, what miles?
