My 88 Fiero GT has never had recall 88-C-24 performed. I'm pretty sure this is the case since the PVC line from the valve cover is still mounted to the firewall and routed into the air filter canister. There is also no heat shield where the manifold connects to the heads. No campaign sticker either. Even GM's recall site says my vehicle is incomplete.

If I were to call GM and request I have this recall performed…Should I?? My reasoning for questioning this is the fact my Fiero is stock 2.8 with just over 34k original miles. It runs perfectly and I would hate to have something done to it and have it no longer run like it does now. I’ve performed routine maintenance on it, ex. change spark plugs, wires, valve seats, fuel injector cleanings, etc…, but removing the exhaust manifold and having it crack or a bolt breaking off is a great concern of mine.

If this was your 26 year old vehicle, would you have the dealer mechanic perform the work?

Opinions greatly appreciated.

Since the GM that recalled it no longer exists, I doubt they would honor it. Even if they did, they wouldn't be able to get the parts.

NO! You already know more about the situation than they ever will. You are maintaining your Fiero better than they were treated by average buyers in the first place. If you inspect the PCV system annually, it won't come apart and dump oil on the catalytic converter.

Old GM was hard to get them do to Recall work when Fiero was 10-15 years old.
New GM is a nightmare on recalls before Old was bankrupted.

Yes, Even if Recall is still valid the parts to do recall work are gone. Try Ebay for a recall kit or find used parts in a junk yard.
