My 88 Fiero GT has never had recall 88-C-24 performed. I'm pretty sure this is the case since the PVC line from the valve cover is still mounted to the firewall and routed into the air filter canister. There is also no heat shield where the manifold connects to the heads. No campaign sticker either. Even
GM's recall site says my vehicle is incomplete.
If I were to call GM and request I have this recall performed…Should I?? My reasoning for questioning this is the fact my Fiero is stock 2.8 with just over 34k original miles. It runs perfectly and I would hate to have something done to it and have it no longer run like it does now. I’ve performed routine maintenance on it, ex. change spark plugs, wires, valve seats, fuel injector cleanings, etc…, but removing the exhaust manifold and having it crack or a bolt breaking off is a great concern of mine.
If this was your 26 year old vehicle, would you have the dealer mechanic perform the work?
Opinions greatly appreciated.
